Slipform bunks and aprons offer a range of superior benefits to precast concrete bunks for feedlot owners.
Slipform Concrete Bunks and Aprons
Slipform concrete feed bunks are poured and formed onsite at your property.
They are a superior long-term alternative to traditional precast concrete bunks, which are transported to the site in six metre sections and constructed onsite.
Pitfalls of Precast
While the precast option may be less expensive to install initially, they come with the following long-term costs:
Precast bunks inevitably get bumped or ground movement causes them to be pushed out of line causing an untidy/uneven bunk line and gaps between bunks. This makes them hard to clean and encourages build-up of old feed.
It is hard to find precast bunks with a good shape to suit large scale lot feeding.
The bunk posts are generally not set into precast bunks, making them susceptible to rust.
Benefits of Slipform
Slipform concrete bunks and aprons offer the following benefits to precast bunks:
The solid onsite construction means minimal long-term maintenance
Easy to clean mechanically, if the correct method is used
It is not overly expensive to make a custom mould to suit specific feeding requirements in relation to the overall project cost.
Rust resistant posts are pushed into the thick wall of the bunk creating a solid long term bunk rail
Adjustable cables may be added to the bunk posts.
At PF Install Solutions, our team can assist you with all your slip form bunk and apron requirements.
